We are currently recruiting experienced and creative Signwriters to join leading signage companies across Australia. If you’re passionate about visual communication and have hands-on experience in design, fabrication, and installation, this is your opportunity to take your craft to the next level.
🖌️ About the Role
As a Signwriter, you’ll be responsible for designing, fabricating, and installing signs of all types—from traditional hand-painted signage to computer-generated graphics and large-scale prints. You’ll work closely with clients and team members to bring creative concepts to life across various surfaces and settings.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients and interpret sketches, briefs, or instructions to plan signage layout and content
- Use computer software and sign-making equipment to design and produce signs
- Create signage manually by preparing surfaces, applying background finishes, and hand-lettering with brushes, stencils, enamel paints, or decals
- Design and apply custom vehicle graphics, murals, and decorative artwork
- Paint signage using lacquers, varnishes, and specialty finishes on different materials (e.g., metal, timber, brick, glass, plastic)
- Fabricate and assemble 3D signs according to size specifications and structural requirements
- Install signs on-site, which may include working at heights or on scaffolding
- Prepare cost estimates for materials and labor as needed
- Maintain equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards
✅ What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience as a Signwriter, Sign Maker, or Sign Designer
- Must be able to provide at least 1 year of recent work references and salary evidence (e.g., pay slips, certificates of employment)
- Skilled in using sign-making machinery and tools for design, fabrication, and installation
- Strong attention to detail, layout accuracy, and quality craftsmanship
- Experience in large format printing, vinyl cutting, and digital or screen printing is an advantage
- Good English communication skills
- Must be capable of interpreting design specifications and meeting client expectations
🎓 Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate with a vocational diploma or short course certificate in signwriting, visual arts, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience
