Common tasks that you may perform include:
- Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
- Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
- Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
- Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
- Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers
- May inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness
To apply for this role, you must have:
- Minimum of 5 years’ working experience as a Diesel Mechanic for Mobile Plant, Underground Equipment, Heavy Equipment, or Agricultural Equipment
- Must be able to provide at least 3 years recent work references and salary evidence (documents)
- Must have experience in troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and overhaul of various truck makes including: Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, Sandvik, Epiroc, Atlas Copco, Kubota, John Deere, etc.
- Must have experience using diagnostic tools such as CAT ET, Volvo Techtool, Volvo Impact, ECM, etc.
- Good English communication skills
- Be able to provide work references and salary evidence
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and at least a vocational diploma, or short course certificate
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience
