Common tasks that you may perform include:
- Studies plans and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures
- Erects and dismantles restricted height scaffolding
- Seals foundations with damp-resistant materials and spreads layers of mortar to serve as base and binder for building blocks
- Cuts building blocks using machines and hand tools, and shapes blocks to fit irregular spaces
- Sets out blockwork and lays building blocks in rows, designs and shapes
- Embeds building blocks in mortar ensuring construction is level, plumb and aligned, and removes excess mortar
- Installs lintels and flashings to openings
- Repairs and maintains bricks, cement blocks and related structures
- May prepare base and bedding courses, and lay segmental paving
- Minimum of 3 years’ working experience as a Refractory Bricklayer
- Must be able to provide at least 2 years recent work references and salary evidence (documents)
- Must have experience in working with refractory materials to lay and repair heat-resistant bricks in high temperature environments such as kilns, furnaces, incinerators, and industrial chimneys
- Must have experience in general refractory installation, including welding, fabricating, and mechanical maintenance work.
- Able to produce work portfolios (photos and/or videos)
- Good English communication skills
- High school diploma and at least a vocational diploma, or short course certificate
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience
