Common tasks that you may perform include:
- Installing, repairing and replacing the interior trim of vehicles such as seats, linings, floor coverings and door trims.
- Preparing new vehicle trim work according to drawings and sketches, and removing old coverings and fittings from vehicles and taking new measurements.
- Selecting and cutting pieces of fabric, vinyl and leather and sewing pieces together using heavy-duty sewing machine.
- Modifying assembly line vehicles to special requirements.
- Installing internal trim in vehicles such as lining, floor coverings and armrests.
- Attaching door trims, rubber seals, locks and handles.
- Cutting and shaping panels of sheet metal, aluminum and reinforced plastic and attaching to frameworks using hand and power tools.
- Bolting, screwing, riveting and welding sections together to form complete frameworks.
- Constructing framework sections in metal, wood, fiberglass and other materials using shaping machines and cutting and welding equipment.
- Minimum of 3 years' work experience as a Vehicle Trimmer
- Must have solid experience in installation and repairs of vehicle's interior trim such as seats, linings, floor coverings and door trims
- Must have experience in installation of vehicle accessories
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent physical ability to lift materials, use hand tools, and work in tight spaces.
- Good English communication skills
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to provide work references and salary evidence.
- High school diploma and at least a vocational diploma, or short course certificate
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience
