We are currently seeking highly skilled Shipwrights or Boat Builders to join our clients’ marine and shipbuilding operations across Australia. If you have a passion for precision craftsmanship and extensive experience in traditional boat construction, this is an exciting opportunity to take your career overseas.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare templates and scale layouts for hull fabrication
- Marking out reference points and lines on dry docks and slipways
- Inspecting slipway systems and ensuring operational readiness
- Assembling boat shells and erecting hull sections
- Conducting pre-launch tests and supervising the launching process
- Installing masts, decks, frames, fittings, machinery, shafts, and safety equipment
- Constructing and installing internal structures such as cabins, engine mounts, rudder systems, and supports
- Diagnosing damage or deterioration and determining appropriate repair methods
- May be involved in mould making and vessel construction using aluminum, timber, fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar, and reinforced plastics
✅ What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years’ working experience as a Shipwright or Boat Builder
- Background in traditional boat-building techniques
- Strong knowledge in timber vessel construction and structural design
- Skilled in sealing joints/seams (caulking) and timber joinery
- Proficient in working with various resins (epoxy, vinyl ester, polyester)
- Capable of high-quality painting using enamel, 2-pack, and varnishing techniques
- Good English communication skills
- Must be able to provide at least 3 years of recent work references and salary documentation (e.g., COEs, payslips, tax documents)
🎓 Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma and at least a vocational diploma or short course certificate
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience
